Andy Warhol Pop Art

Today in production we are taking a shift from the Obama Poster duplication due to the limits of Photoshop Elements 10.  (Mainly the complexity of the work around)  However, the students will be exploring Elements in a similar way by creating Andy Warhol Pop Art Duplications.  Each student will be tasked with creating their own face using the tutorial below.  However, they will also be tasked with 3 other types of shots.

Face Shot -  Students will use one of the shots from the other day to create this effect in Photoshop.

Word Art -  Students will find lettering in either a book, sign, or create it themselves and take a close up using a camera.

Inanimate Object - Students will take a extreme close up of an inanimate object and use the same process.

Landscape Shot -  Students will take a Landscape Shot and create the same effect.

By utilizing 4 different shots it forces the students to understand where this effect would be useful and where it would not be as useful.  It will also help the student focus on setting up shots and finding art inside of their surroundings.

This weeks project

This week the students will be working on creating a portrait of words, of themselves.  They will be watching the following tutorials and begin creating a Word Portrait describing themselves.  It will be challenging and probably will bleed into next week.

Project Parameters.

They have to come up with 25 words describing themselves, 12 motivational quotes, and 1 set of appropriate lyrics from a song.  They will use these as the basis of their photo project.  They will also be tasked with taking a picture of themselves, using the camera shot of their choosing.  They will use this photo as the basis of the project.

Continuing to Build their City Street

Today the students will pick up where they left off yesterday by constructing a Downtown City Street Landscape.  However, we will quickly begin with a micro-lesson on Animating inside of Sketchup.  We will talk briefly about what it should include and I will show a few examples from the internet for the students to look at.  They will then finish their landscape and begin to think about scene design inside of the landscape.
